Volunteering

Please note that all RSPCA Volunteers must be aged 16 years or over

Cat and Dog Fostering

We do not have an RSPCA animal centre in this area, and rely on foster homes and private kennels to care for and re-home unwanted animals.

We are looking for volunteers who have the time and room to care for such animals. We provide expenses, advice and support.

Home Visitors
We need volunteers to visit the homes of potential adopters to ensure their suitability for an RSPCA animal and to revisit homes to ensure that the adoption has been a success.
A Home visiting training course is given before undertaking any home visits.

Collect goods for the branch
The branch needs a regular supply of goods for their stalls. These are for raffles, tombolas and game prizes. Can you collect unwanted gifts and good as new items? We also need bric a brac for car boot sales.

Storage
We regularly receive donations of bric a brac, items for our tombolas and fairs but as we have no premises within the branch we are in need of somewhere to store items.

Fundraising – planning new events
Could you think up a new way of raising money for the branch? All sorts of possibilities exist – coffee mornings, shop bag packs, garage sales. Maybe you have a new idea for a game or event that would help generate income for the branch. Help and assistance will be given from our current volunteers.

Fundraising – helping at events
We currently have a number of fundraising events that we run throughout the year and we are always in need of volunteers to help on the day if you could you help in any of the following ways:

Street Collections – We hold 4 street collections a year in Sale, Altrincham, Partington and Hale. Volunteers spend a couple of hours on a Saturday collecting in Town Centres.

Charity Christmas Cards - In November and December we sell RSPCA Christmas cards at Altrincham Hale and Sale Libraries. Volunteers are needed to set up the Christmas cards, regularly check the stock at the libraries and to close down at the end. The RSPCA also have to staff the library for one day during the sale.

Charity Fairs – We have a stall selling RSPCA logo goods and a tombola at Timperley Fair, Sale Fair, and at various other events during the year. Volunteers are needed to set the stall up and close
it down at the end of the day, and also to staff the stall for a couple of hours at a time.

Collection boxes - A few shops are kind enough to let us put RSPCA collection boxes out to raise money. We need to find new venues for the boxes and we need people to help empty them on a regular basis.

Car boot sales - We have regular donations of bric a brac and items to be sold at car boot sales. Maybe you could organise a stall at a car boot sale for us.

If you would like any further information on any of the volunteer opportunities please contact our Branch Manager Julia Tucker:
